Technique

All of my work start out as a puzzle, and slowly the pieces come together....
Most of my pieces are sewn by hand, all the piecing, embroidery, appliqué and beadwork ( the exception being the recent “Material things” series.) 

I use mostly vintage and antique material, although I occasionally use a reproduction if it feels right. As many of the fabrics I use are fragile, there is a great deal of painstaking and time-consuming work involved. I spend much thought and energy taking apart and putting together a piece until I am completely satisfied. But finding one's artistic work's solution opens up ideas for another puzzle, and so it is time to create a new piece.
