109. Su bueno tenar amigos incluso en infierno (It’s good to have friends, even in hell.)

I used a Victorian wool for  “El Diablito” cut in the manner of papel picado, the art of Mexican paper cutting. I appliquéd him onto a printed black & red wool tablecloth, circa 1900, which I hand quilted. He is holding a bouquet made of late 1800 seed bead flowers & antique lace. Also used- a black & silver art deco trim,  early 1900 eastern European embroidery, a black, red, & gold reproduction trim. The binding is a Victorian turkeyred damask tablecloth. The piece is embellished with antique sequins and beading & the antique crocheted lace at the bottom is hand dyed.
