144 Le Cadeau

For this hanging I used the image from a vintage holy card of the Virgin Mary, which I transferred onto silk. I embellished the piece with gold embroidery, antique beads, and she is holding a sterling milagros heart with a vintage rhinestone button. The wool paisley on each side is Victorian, circa late 1800, as is the cotton paisley I used for the binding.  The gold fabric I used for the “roof” is circa 1920, and the gold metallic trim is off of a antique vestment altar cloth. The stars are shell and marcasite, the metal flower at the top is a vintage curtain tie back.  I hand dyed the silk fringe, which is off an antique silk shawl.
