Adore entre el muerto (love among the dead)

I bought this wonderful collection of antique Victorian & Edwardian paper dolls years ago-not knowing what I would do with them. Problem solved- I’ve been using them in my los muertos series- having great fun! The pillars the happy couple are standing among are also an old favorite treasure-I photocopied my Scottish grandfathers Masons certificate. I stitched them on a background of a beautifully embroidered piece of silk, framed with vintage sari trim and antique lace, which I cut from old tablecloths, collars, and trims-then painted with fabric paint & beaded. For the half moon at the top, I used an old embroidery hoop cut in half, then wrapped it with a lovely antique velvet, embellishing with little silver skull beads. I used my dad’s old music; machine stitching with metallic thread to showcase the heart-symbolically rusty with age (this will be my 25th wedding anniversary this year, do you think I’m projecting?)
