178. We’re not in Kansas anymore

  The Wizard of Oz brought me great joy as a child; I learned many valuable life lessons from watching the movie & reading the book. When I came across this quote about age from Billie Burke, I am reminded once again, the wisdom of Glenda is timeless.

Materials & Techniques

I used a vintage damask that I hand dyed a turquoise blue for the background.  The bubbles with Glenda, the lettering & the cheese are also damask, that I hand painted with fabric paint and transferred the images onto. I used a sheer organdy, that I hand painted for the rest of the bubbles and the emerald city. The flying monkeys are transferred onto hand dyed muslin. I used a reproduction pink brocade ( it reminded me of “the dress”Glenda wore) for the binding.   I embellished with beads, embroidery, sequins, and found objects.
